Do you have a store location where pick up orders? Can I just stop by?
We do not have a retail store; all cakes are baked to order. However, you are welcome to stop by our office to pick up a printed menu or pick up your order on the day of. Check out the Contact page for our hours of operation.

Do you offer tastings? How do we sample your products?
We only offer tasting consults for large orders ($450 and over). With our “To Go Cake Tasting” ($45.00), you will be able to choose three cake flavors. If you choose to book with us, the cake tasting fee will be deducted from your order total if your order is over $450.  We will prepare three (3) four-inch round 3 cakes and package them to be enjoyed at your leisure. Each cake serves 4-6 people. The fee for this cake tastings option is $45.00.

Do you offer cake stand / setup rentals?
Yes! I am an avid collector of cake stands and setups, and I love making them available for rental and / or purchasing. All rental items (cake stands and setups) will be for a seven (7) day period. The day of the event and up to six (6) days after. A late fee of $25.00 per day will be imposed for each day the items are late. Should any parts be not returned or damaged in any way, the renter will be responsible for the cost of replacing the entire item.  The rental rates, return date, refundable deposit, and replacement cost is noted on the invoice or in the contract. A returnable security deposit will be refunded when ALL rental items are returned in the same condition.

How far in advance should I place my order?
Placing your order as soon as possible is suggested to ensure your desired date is available. We can only fulfill a limited number of orders each week and we book on a first come, first serve basis.
Orders must be placed 3 days in advance. Birthday cakes need 3 weeks’ notice and wedding / event cakes need 3 months’ notice.
Popular dates are often booked 3 to 4 weeks in advance. Please note, most custom designs take at least 3 weeks of planning. For orders for events and birthdays with less than 2 weeks’ notice, design options, sizes, and flavors maybe limited. Feel free to check with us if you are within 2 weeks, you never know, we’ll see what we can do. We rarely can accommodate rush orders.

 

How do I reserve a date?
A date is reserved when your order balance or deposit is received. Custom orders cannot be started until your balance or deposit is received, so be sure to pay your invoice promptly.  Full payment is required for an order to be placed. For a large order (value over $350), 50% downpayment  is required to consider the order placed and a contract is necessary for services to be rendered.  The remaining balance is due ten (10) business days prior to the delivery date. Any changes to the order must be made no later than ten (10) business days prior to delivery.

 

Do you deliver?
We do offer delivery for large orders (over $450) and for the monthly subscription plans. Orders can also be picked up by appointment. For orders over $450, we will deliver up to 25 miles at a mileage based fee, currently $1.50 – $1.75 per mile depending on distance.  Delivery for orders over $450.00 within 5 miles is complimentary. For large special events over $1,000.00 we may deliver up to 75 miles at the mileage rate, plus an additional long distance delivery fee.

 

Are you a nut-free facility?
No. Nuts are very frequently used in East European desserts, and we take pride in our delicate nut deserts.

 

Are all your ingredients organic and/or non-GMO?
We never stop looking for the best ingredients. Everything that we use is fresh, nothing is processed and nothing is ready-made. We do our best to find organic and non-GMO ingredients, however they are not always available.

 

Do you offer gluten-free products?
Yes; any cake can be ordered gluten-free and egg free. Some cakes can be ordered dairy free. Feel free to contact us and ask us about your options after you place the order. We use the same processes to prevent cross-contact as with our other baked goods, but we do not have dedicated equipment for processing gluten-free baked goods aside from a dedicated gluten-free stand mixer, so we cannot guarantee that there will positively be no cross-contamination, depending on how allergic you are.

 

Do you accommodate other dietary restrictions or allergies?
We have serviced customers with all kinds of allergies and restrictions but we don’t always have cross-contact information for ingredients that are not in the top 8. Some of those include but are not limited to corn, alcohol, stone fruits, strawberries, apples, oats, and more. On an individual basis, we would be happy to try to accommodate you. Contact us and we can discuss if it is feasible. However, at least eight (8) weeks’ lead time is required.

 

Do you offer character cakes (i.e., Disney Princess, Spider-man, Mickey Mouse, etc)?
We unfortunately do not recreate licensed characters, copyrighted materials, trademarks, or logos without expressed written consent from the owners as intellectual property laws prohibits this. We do offer options however. We can a design a cake that fits your theme more generically, and you can also increase the star power of your cake by using character candles or figurines. We also use bakery kits. See www.decopac.com for cake themes we can recreate with your favorite characters. We do not stock the kits, they must be special ordered and require a 2 week lead time, otherwise rush shipping charges apply.

 

Can I place my order online?

What form of payment do you accept?
We accept credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). You can pay by credit card online or over the phone or in person at the office. We also accept personal checks. Checks should be written out to 1911bakery and mailed to 2107 E Mead Avenue Yakima WA 98901.

 

Do you ship?
We do not offer shipping at this time. All orders are for local pick-up or delivery.

 

What is your cancellation policy?
Full payment is required for an order to be placed. For a large order (value over $350), 50% downpayment  is required to consider the order placed and a contract is necessary for services to be rendered.  The remaining balance is due ten (10) business days prior to the delivery date. Any changes to the order must be made no later than ten (10) business days prior to delivery. Any changes requested after the signing of the contract cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to additional charges.
All deposits are non-refundable. There will be no credit given for orders cancelled inside of ten (10) business days. For cancellations with more than ten (10) business days’ notice, credit may be given for a future order, less the fair market value of items that cannot be re-used.  This offer is subject to the date being available.
If full payment is not received the due date, the order may be cancelled.

Order Timing
For custom decorated desserts, we recommend ordering at least 3-6 weeks in advance. Placing your order as soon as possible is suggested to ensure your desired date is available. For orders with less than 3 weeks’ notice, design options, sizes, and flavors may be limited. We rarely can accommodate rush orders.

Delivery
We are currently not offering delivery except for special events or tiered cakes valuing $450.00 or more, and for customers who have purchased 12 month plans. For orders over $450, we will deliver up to 25 miles at a mileage based fee, ranging between $10.00 and $45.00.  Delivery for orders over $450.00 within 5 miles is complimentary, however setup fees will apply if applicable. For large special events (100 servings or more) and a minimum order of $600, we may deliver up to 75 miles for an additional fee. Orders can also be picked up by appointment.

Tastings
We offer private cake tasting consults for orders of at least 75 servings or a $450 order minimum. The reservation fee for the cake tastings  consult is $45.00. You will be able to choose three cake flavors and three frosting flavors. If you choose to book with us, the cake tasting fee will be deducted from your order total if your order total at least $450.00.
